a multi-media installation exploring the histories of political violence of the period between 1946-1989 in bulgaria through photography, video, found images and objects.

Balkan mine is an installation including films, photography and objects. The installation aims to show the layers of history, memory and trauma related to the forced labour camps during the communist regime in Bulgaria (1946-1989). It documents some of the sites of violence and terror that are scattered across Bulgaria - and which lack signifiers and traces of what happened. These landscapes are accompanied by the voices of survivors, families of the deceased, eyewitnesses, historians as well as my own personal recollections and recordings .
